Autism is a complex developmental disorder that affects an individual's ability to communicate and socialize with the people around them. Affecting approximately 1 in 54 children in the United States, it is estimated that around 70 million people across the globe live with Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD). In spite of its ubiquity, most lack a fundamental understanding of what autism is and how it affects individuals and their families; all too often I see on the internet judgmental remarks on autism stemming from ignorance.

This is where my platform kicks in; spreading autism awareness through art. Autism awareness is crucial because it encourages understanding and acceptance of autism within communities and societies. By raising awareness of ASD, we can help to reduce social stigma, nurture inclusion, and establish a more protective community for people with autism and their families. "Autistic but artistic" strives to elevate the quality of life of people with autism, and move towards a society where autistic individuals, in spite of their neurological differences, can thrive.
